What sets you apart from the competition?
Tenerife is a safe and versatile destination that appeals to a wide range of travelers. This unspoiled European island, with its Spanish charm and rich natural beauty, is often referred to as the "Hawaii of the East." While it offers plenty of opportunities for relaxation, Tenerife is also ideal for outdoor enthusiasts. Visitors can enjoy activities such as trail running, stargazing, whale watching, hiking, or simply unwinding on white or black sanded beaches. Exploring quaint towns and discovering architecture dating back to the 15th century adds a cultural dimension to the island’s appeal. A must-see is the Teide National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, featuring the highest peak in Spain with 12,188 feet and hiking trails covering more than 621 miles.

Working with travel agents is undoubtedly exciting, each experience is totally different and enriching, meeting people from around the world opens new horizons not only in our perspective as people, but also as a destination, as it allows us to evolve. One of the most shocking experiences not only in my career, but also in my life was meeting at a tradeshow one of the survivors of the biggest plane crash in the world, which occurred in Tenerife almost 50 years ago, and who despite the trauma, approached me and wanted to tell me her story; to overcome that experience she became a travel agent and wanted to return to Tenerife and ‘’close the cycle’’ by visiting the island that for so many years she wanted to know. For me, her story is the clearest example that tourism is a way of life that transforms people and UNITES.
What is new and exciting that you're looking forward to sharing with this year's ETAF delegates?
The destination is always in constant evolution, and the island's touristic offer is permanently working on the creation of authentic and sustainable experiences based on our uniqueness, values and identity. This offer seeks to encourage the integration of the visitor with the citizen and the local culture for a balanced economic and social development.
What are some of the trends you're seeing, and what initiatives are you developing to support travel sellers growing their business
One of the main trends that we see is Responsible Tourism, as travelers are more conscious about conservation efforts in a destination. Tenerife was certified as a Biosphere Sustainable Tourism Destination for its commitment to sustainable development and combatting climate change. A large portion of the island’s surface, 48.6%, is a protected natural area. Visitors can enjoy trekking in a biosphere reserve such as Anaga Rural Park and Teno Rural Park.
What tools/technologies do you have in place to support travel sellers, and do they integrate into current technologies?
